Additional Resources
Below is a list of resources that students will be using on a regular basis in class. They are all fun and educational websites that promote student learning!
Math Antics
This website is a great source for videos, exercises, and worksheets in the classroom. Though some of the worksheets and exercises are not available unless you subscribe, the videos are open to anyone. The videos explain concepts very well, but also in a fun way, without overshadowing the facts. It is also convenient that the videos are organized under tabs including arithmetic, fractions, and so on. This makes it easier to find videos for any topic you may need.
Math Playground
There are a ton of fun and educational games on this website. One of my favorites is "Brainie", where you select boxes that add up to a given number before too many of the falling blocks build up! What is really nice about this website is that at the bottom of each game, it tells you the grade(s) it applies to and the Common Core standard it relates to.
PBS Kids
Under the games tab, there are a variety of many different math purposes. One of the games I played was "Can You Fill It?" where you try to fill different containers with water by using smaller containers. This is a great activity for estimation, but it is fairly short. The game "Cross The River" is a more challenging game there you use problem solving skills to get characters from Cyberchase across a river, while following certain rules.
Multiplication.com
There are many games, along with lessons on this website. I liked the "Grand Prix Pro Multiplication" game the most. In this game, you race other players while doing multiplication equations. The faster you answer, the faster you go!
